Interventional radiology combines x-ray imaging and minimally invasive surgical techniques for the purpose of treating a variety of medical disorders without surgery. Interventional radiologists perform a wide variety of procedures including but not limited to angiograms, venous catheter placement, and embolizations. Procedures performed with imaging guidance have lower complication rates and quicken the recovery times.

Sean M. Carr, M.D.is a graduate of Oregon Health and Sciences University. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Radiology in Diagnostic Radiology. He completed an Interventional Radiology Fellowship at the prestigious Dotter Interventional Institute. Additionally he is CAQ certified by the American Board of Radiology in Interventional and Vascular Radiology. .
Dr. Carr has been with Boise Radiology group since 2004. He performs all spectrums of interventional radiology. A main focus of his practice is work with oncology patients. Including biopsies, ablations (Radiofrequency and Cryoablation), and embolizations. He also has focused his expertise on patients with Liver and Renal disease. .
Dr. Carr enjoys spending time with his wife and children. He enjoys all outdoor activities. He is a lifelong native of the Pacific Northwest.

Brent D. Nelson, M.D.is a graduate of University of Washington Medical School,
Seattle, WA. He completed a residency program at the
University of Utah Department of Radiology and went on to
complete a fellowship in cardiovascular and interventional
radiology there. Dr. Nelson also earned a Certificate of
Added Qualifications in Cardiovascular and Interventional
Radiology. While at the University of Utah, he held the
position of Assistant Professor of Interventional Radiology.
Dr. Nelson joined Boise Radiology Group in July, 2000.
Fluent in Spanish, Dr. Nelson also maintains a fascination
with astronomy (which includes having his own, in-home
observatory). He also enjoys camping, water sports and
cross-country skiing with his wife, three sons and daughter.
Additionally, Dr. Nelson is an Executive Board member of
the Ore-Ida Boy Scout Council. |

Tony Bell, M.D. received his medical degree from the
University of North Carolina School
of Medicine in Chapel Hill, North
Carolina. He completed a residency
in Internal Medicine at the University
of Utah, followed by a second
residency in Diagnostic Radiology,
serving as Chief Resident in his final
year. He remained in Salt Lake City
for a two-year fellowship in
Interventional and Diagnostic
Neuroradiology. Dr. Bell has held
faculty appointments at Wake Forest
University of Medicine, the University
of North Carolina, and the Medical
University of South Carolina. His
clinical interests include
endovascular coiling of aneurysms,
carotid stenting, and acute stroke
intervention. Dr. Bell’s recreational
interests include climbing and
mountain biking. |

John Perl II, MD is a graduate of the University of North Carolina School of Medicine. His diagnostic radiology residency was completed at the University of Alabama, followed by a fellowship in Neuroradiology at the Cleveland Clinic and a second fellowship at University of Wisconsin in Neurointerventional Radiology.
In addition to working at some of the most prestigious facilities in the country, Dr. Perl has been a part of extensive research programs and has been published in medicial journals including: Journal of Neurotrama; Radiology; American Journal of Neuroradiology; Journal of Endovascular Surgery and others.
He has been a featured presenter and guest lecturer at conferences throughout the US, Canada and Europe.
In his spare time Dr. Perl spends time with his family.

R. Taylor Handley, MDGraduated from Texas Tech University School of Medicine in Lubbock, TX. Dr. Handley’s Transitional Internship was conducted at Deaconess Medical Center, Spokane WA. He completed the Diagnostic Radiology Residency program as well as attained Fellowship in Vascular and Interventional Radiology at Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis, IN. As an interventional radiologist, Dr. Handley’s particular interest include angiography/arterial interventions, venous reflux disease, hemodialysis access management, interventional oncology (with liver-directed therapies including Y-90 radioembolization, chemoembolization, and RFA), uterine fibroid embolizations. In his spare time Dr. Handley enjoys cycling, hiking, mandolin, cooking, coffee roasting and home brewing. |
