He is a graduate of University of Washington Medical School, Seattle, WA. He completed a residency program at the University of Utah Department of Radiology and went on to complete a fellowship in cardiovascular and interventional radiology there. Dr. Nelson also earned a Certificate of Added Qualifications in Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology. While at the University of Utah, he held the position of Assistant Professor of Interventional Radiology. Dr. Nelson joined Boise Radiology Group in July, 2000.
Fluent in Spanish, Dr. Nelson also maintains a fascination with astronomy (which includes having his own, in-home observatory). He also enjoys camping, water sports and cross-country skiing with his wife, three sons and daughter. Additionally, Dr. Nelson is an Executive Board member of the Ore-Ida Boy Scout Council.
